Using calculators

Ordinary calculator formulas run in your browser. The calculator interaction events implemented by RatioLab record which tool, input field, or preset was used, rather than the numbers you enter. This does not make a visit anonymous: the site also uses the hosting, analytics, and advertising services described below.

Accounts and contributions

Signing in sends your email address to our server so we can send a sign-in link through our email delivery service and maintain your account. A session cookie keeps you signed in. Bookmarks, ratings, and published calculators are stored by the service. Ratings also use browser local storage to remember a voting identifier and your rating.

Calculator generation sends your description to our server and OpenAI to produce a calculator definition. Translation also uses OpenAI. Publishing makes calculator content available to other visitors. Do not include private or sensitive information in descriptions or content you submit for generation or publication. Hosting and measurement

Cloudflare hosts the service. Network requests involve technical information such as IP addresses; the application uses IP-based rate limits to reduce abuse. Google Analytics measures page visits and interactions so we can understand how the tools are used. Google may receive information about your browser, device, and visited pages and use cookies or similar technologies. Advertising

RatioLab uses Google AdSense. Google and other third-party advertising vendors may place or read cookies, use web beacons, and collect IP addresses when serving ads. Advertising cookies can be used to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Other advertising networks may also serve ads through Google’s advertising services.

Manage Google ad personalization through My Ad Center. You can also visit YourAdChoices for participating vendors’ opt-out options. These settings do not remove all advertising. See Google’s advertising privacy information.

Browser choices

You can block or clear cookies and site storage in your browser. Clearing storage may sign you out or remove remembered ratings. Google also provides a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Where a privacy choices message is shown, use its controls to review the available advertising choices.
